Coweta close to proposals on new health department

By Sarah Fay Campbell

The Times-Herald

Coweta County is almost ready to request proposals from contractors for construction of a new health department building.

The Coweta County Board of Commissioners is set to approve the request for proposals at Tuesday's commission meeting.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held in the county commission chambers in the County Administration Building on Perry Street.

The new health department building will be built on property the county owns on Hospital Road. It will be funded with money from the Coweta Hospital Authority and a $500,000 grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Other items to come before the commissioners include:

* A "spotlight" presentation on the Newnan-Coweta Airport.

* A bid award for the purchase of one custom heavy rescue truck for the Coweta County Fire Department.

* Approval of the Georgia Indigent Defense Services Agreement.

* Acceptance of the proposed road rehabilitation project list for 2010.

* Appointments to various boards and authorities.
