Mr. Thomas Allen Carroll

Obituary

Mr. Thomas Allen Carroll, age 86, of Moreland, died November 5, 2009, at WellStar Douglas Hospital. A native of Coweta County, he was born April 15, 1923, near Grantville, Georgia. He was one of seven children born to the late Joseph and Pearly Deloris Payton Carroll. His brothers and a sister preceded him in death, as did his parents.

Mr. Carroll was a strong and self-reliant individual. This was a characteristic instilled in him at an early age following the death of his mother when he was three. Thomas was smitten by the love of the girl who would become his precious wife, Ruby Foster Carroll, and it was a love story that continued for over 60 years until her death 2 years ago. Mr. Carroll spent his working years at Trimedge, which came to be known as The Bonnell Company, and he later worked for Motor Convoy prior to his retirement. Family and friends were the focus of Mr. Carroll's life.

His daughter, Nancy Carroll Jones, survives him. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Blake N. (Ashley Stempson) Jones and Clay A. Jones. There is one great grandchild, Ann Clay.

Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street where the family will receive friends today between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 7, at 11 a.m. in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jerry Eley officiating. Interment will be in Southview Cemetery in Moreland. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mckoon.com
