Mrs. Mary Ruth Aycock Carter

Obituary

Mrs. Mary Ruth Aycock Carter was born on August 8, 1924, in Coweta County, Ga., to the late Mrs. Maryetta Brown Aycock and the late Elijah Aycock. She departed this life on Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, 2008, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

She married the late Deacon Hope Woodruff Carter Sr., and to this union two children were born, Hope Woodruff Carter Jr., J.D., and Rebecca Carter Gibson, Ed.D; and two grandchildren, Carter Gibson, M.D., and Christina Gibson, J.D.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories two children, Mr. Hope Woodruff Carter Jr. (Joyce) of Rock Island, Illinois, and Mrs. Rebecca Carter Gibson of Newnan, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Aycock Grier of College Park, Ga., and Ms. Katrina Aycock of Newnan, Ga.; two brothers, Mr. Isaac Aycock (Virginia) and Mr. Melvin Aycock (Inez), both of Newnan, Ga; two grandchildren, Christina Gibson of Atlanta, Ga., and Carter Gibson (Cheryl) of Covington, Ga.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 4, 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 4036 Corinth Road, Newnan. Rev. Clifford Davis, presiding. The remains in state at 10 a.m. Interment church cemetery. Viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rebecca Gibson for New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
