Moreland UMC Car Show returns Nov. 7

Autumn is a time for falling leaves in many colors, bright orange pumpkins -- and church fundraisers.

Several area churches have held barbecues in recent weeks, and there were numerous fall festivals on the calendar at the end of October. Several area Catholic churches are joining forces again for a Casino Night event called Fun at the Falcon in Peachtree City.

Down in the south Coweta town of Moreland, folks are getting ready for Moreland United Methodist Church's annual Autumn Car Show. This will be the third year for the event, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The car show will be held Nov. 7 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Last year the show attracted a wide array of cars, trucks and motorcycles. Shiny vehicles were parked all around the square.

Event admission is free for all ages. Dr. David Brackman, pastor at Moreland Methodist, will be the DJ for the day. He will be spinning an assortment of car tunes both old and new.

There will be a variety of vendors displaying their arts and crafts for sale on the church lawn, and the raffle item this year is a custom golf cart, complete with lift kit, knobby tires, extended roof, back seat, and a custom "flaming" paint job.

The best cooks in the county will be baking up their specialties for the church's famous cake auction. There also will be door prizes and silent auction items.

Registration for those entering a vehicle is $25 the day of the event and $20 for all who preregister. Plaques will be awarded for the top 25, and there will be 10 specialty plaques awarded.

Registration is available online at www.morelandumc.org or by mail at Moreland United Methodist Church P. O. Box 156, Moreland, GA 30259.

All proceeds go to benefit the church building fund, and many local businesses pitch in to help with donations.

For information, contact the church office at 770-253-0460.
