The difference between paying taxes and spending is that you are paying as you go. You also have a chance at reducing the debt. On the other hand, reducing or eliminating the income tax and replacing it with a national sales tax puts undue burden on the middle class and poor. It also means putting the burden of paying off the enormous national debt on our grandchildren and maybe even our great grandchildren.
